What types of Jobs Does Indian Railways Offers:- The Indian Railways have been divided into several zones for the purpose of administration. There are several divisions and departments under each zone. Each division has a certain number of technical and non-technical departments. The Staff are classified into technical (Group ‘A’ and ‘B’) departments in Railway Jobs require civil, mechanical, electrical and telecommunication engineers and other professionals, and non-technical (Group ‘C’ and ‘D’) departments ,Group C comprise of the clerical staff, supervisors and skilled labor while unskilled and semi-skilled labor falls under the Group D class. Authorities deals with different groups & departments are as following:

Group A: The Group ‘A’ officers are recruited by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Railway officers of the highest rank belong to Group ‘A’.

Group B: There are no special examinations for the selection of Group B employees. Most of them are directly promoted from Group C.

Group C and Group D: Group C and Group D employees are recruited by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).Officers of the lowest rank belong to Group D.

What Educational Qualification Is Required To Apply For a Railways Job: According to Groups different Qualification is required which are as follow:

Group A: Graduation in any stream (for civil service); Degree in Engineering or M.Sc Degree (for engineering service); Degree in medicine- M.B.B.S (for medical service) from any recognised University. Besides Engineering Service Examination, a Special Class Railway Apprenticeship Examination (SCRA) is also held for the selection of mechanical engineers. HSC or equivalent with PCM, is the minimum qualification for SCRA exam.

Group C:

For Non-Technical Popular Categories(NTPC): Matriculation or Equivalent with 50% marks in aggregate. (Not applicable for SC/ST candidates and for the candidates of any category possessing higher qualification).
For Technician Categories: Act Apprenticeship/ ITI. No other qualification including Diploma in Engineering /BE will be accepted as an alternative qualification. Act Apprenticeship/ITI certificate must be approved by SCVT / NCVT. Scouting/Guiding Qualification as in Para 4.0.
Group D: Passed Class-10th or equivalent. Scouting/Guiding Qualification as in Para 4.0.

What Will Be The Selection Procedure For a Railway Job: Selection procedure of Indian railways consists of 4 processes which are:

Written Test: Written Test is conducted in the different examination centers where the knowledge of candidates about the English Language, General Knowledge, Mathematics is examine by the examination committee of Indian Railways.
Medical Exam: Medical Exam or Medical Test is conducted to check the health and physically capabilities of candidates either he/she fit or not fit.
Personal Interview: The purpose behind conducting Personal Interview to meet the candidate face to face and having a communication with him/her which can define the knowledge of that candidates and the ability of presentation.
Merit List: At Last, after considering the all these 3 steps marks score, the Merit List is prepared which shows the Name of the selected, suitable and deserving candidate for the posts.
The Appointment Letter is given to the candidate to join this biggest network of Indian Railways and the initial Six months is the month of Training and after successfully completion of training, a candidate get permanent job.

Is There Any Relaxation In Age /Selection Process: As per rules laid down by the government of India, there are always be relaxation for some special candidates. What will be the Pay scale for different Groups:

Group A (gazetted) A railway position in highest scale ( ₹ 80,000 fixed) in Pay Band ‘4 (₹ 37,400-₹ 67,000) with GP (grade pay) ₹ 10,000 , ₹ 8,900 and ₹ 8,700 and Grade Pay ₹ 7,600 , ₹ 6,600 and ₹ 5,400 in Pay Band 3 (₹ 15,600-₹ 39,100 ) but not including the posts in Grade B and C
Group B (gazetted) Railway posts in Pay Band-2 (9,300 -34,200 ) with GPs of 5,400 and 4,800 . Railways posts like Headmaster/Headmistress, Assistant Nuing Officer are categorized under PB-3 (15,600 -39,000 ) with GP of 5,400 and 6,600 .
Group C (gazetted) All those posts with GP RS.2,800 , RS 2,400 , RS 2000 , RS 1900 and RS 1800 in PB-1 (RS 5,200- RS 20,200 ), and GP RS 4,600 and RS 4,200 in PB-2 ( RS 9,300-RS 34,800 )
