Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment of JCOs and Other Ranks

Minimum Educational Qualification and Age Criteria

(1)Soldier (General Duty) (All Arms)SSLC/Matric with 45% marks in aggregate and 32% in each subject.  No percentage considered in case candidate has passed higher qualification ie 10+2 and above.17 ½ – 21 Yrs
(2)Soldier (Technical) Technical Arms, Artillery, Army Air Defence)10+2 / Intermediate Exam Pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% marks in aggregate and 40% in each subject. (simple pass in 10+2 with requisite subjects is acceptable upto 31 Mar 2013).17 ½ – 23 Yrs
(3)Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (All Arms)10+2 / Intermediate Exam pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 40% in each subject.  Should have studied and passed English and Maths / accounts / Book Keeping in Cl X or Cl XII  with 40% marks in each subject.  In case of graduate with Maths and English as subject in BSc, the stipulation of 40% in Cl X or Cl XII is waived off.  In case of graduate without English and Maths / Accounts / Book Keeping, he should have scored more than 40% in English and Maths / accounts / Book Keeping at least once in Cl X or Cl XII.17 ½ – 23 Yrs
(4)Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps)10+2/Intermediate exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% in each subject. OR
In case the candidate has a BSc Degree with (Botany/Zoology/Bio-Science) and English, the stipulation of percentage in Cl-XII is waived off.  However, the candidate should have studied all the four specified subjects in  Cl XII also.
17 ½ – 23 Yrs
(5)Soldier Tradesmen(All Arms)10th/ITI (except Syce.  Mess Keeper and House Keeper-who may be 8th pass).17 ½ – 23 Yrs
(6)Soldier General Duty   (Matric Simple Pass)(All Arms)10th Simple pass.17 ½ – 21Yrs
(7)Surveyor Auto Carto(Engineers)BA/BSc with Maths.  Must have also passed 12th class(10+2) or equivalent with Maths and Science as main subjects.20-25 Yrs
(8)Junior Commissioned OfficerReligious Teacher(All Arms)Graduate in any discipline.  In addition requisite qualification in his own religious denomination.27-34 Yrs
(9)Junior Commissioned Officer Catering(Army Service Corps)10+2 or equivalent exam and Diploma/Certificate Course of a duration of one year or more in Cookery/Hotel Management and Catering Tech from a recognized University / Food Craft Institute.  AICTE recognition is not mandatory.21-27  Yrs
(10)Havildar Education(Army Education Corps)Group X – MA/MSc/MCA or BA/BSc/BCA/B Sc       (IT) with  B EdGroup Y – BSc/BA/BCA/B Sc (IT) (w/o B Ed.)20-25  Yrs

Standard Minimum Height, Unexpanded Chest and Weight of Recruits at the Time of Enrollment for All Categories

1. The entire country has been divided into six regions namely; Western Plains Region, Eastern Plains Region, Central Region, Southern Region, Western Himalayan Region and Eastern Himalayan Region. The minimum physical standards for the various regions are as follows

Note: * Regional physical standards lower than the standards laid down in Para 2(h) above will be applicable to clerical candidates belonging to those region.

Relaxations in Physical Standards

3. The following categories will be permitted relaxations in physical standards as mentioned against each

(a)SOS, SOEX, SOWW and Widow of       Ex-Servicemen Adopted Son/Son-in-Law of a War Widow,   if she has no son and including a legally adopted son of serving Sol/Ex-Servicemen212

  1. Can I apply for the soldier GD ??
    I am in 12th appearing student with biology but no maths.

  2. Sir i heard that age is change in gd from 21 to 23 as per new rule of indian army 2017 of yes then inforned me plzzxx sir wait for urgent reply.
