As the world’s largest technology event, CES 2016, kicks off next week, here are some highlights of the 3-day schedule
The heritage car company’s CEO Mark Fields and CTO Raj Nair will announce news related to Ford’s smart mobility efforts, particularly their work in connected and autonomous vehicles.
Reports last week hinted that Ford may announce a new partnership with Google to build a driverless car, something Ford’s chairman Bill Ford has hinted at in the past.
7.30am PT: Fitbit will launch new product
CEO James Park, who took the profitable company public in 2015, will likely make a new product announcement. According to CCI Insights, the wearable tech industry is projected to grow 64 per cent over the next three years, so watch out for this one if you’re interested in wearables.
8am PT: LG will announce a slew of new devices
The Korean electronics giant is expected to announce at least four new products in its new “Signature” range of smart home devices, including a television, refrigerator, washing machine and air purifier. It also expected to launch a flexible OLED TV, and potential new partnerships in car and solar technologies.
2pm PT: Samsung will show new mobile phones and smart wearables
Although it won’t release the Samsung Galaxy S7 just yet, Samsung will likely showcase other previously announced products such as three Samsung Galaxy A smartphones, A3, A5, and A7.
Its Creative Lab will also show 3 brand new products including a smart belt, a smartwatch strap and a hand-motion controller.
5pm PT: Sony could showcase its hotly anticipated Playstation VR
Sony has kept its product announcements under wraps, but we already know it will release its new virtual reality headset, Playstation VR, in 2016 so will likely see a showcase of a range of products including televisions, headphones and perhaps the VR headset too.
8:30 PT: Volkswagen will announce new electric car concept
Dr. Herbert Diess, chairman, board of management, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, will launch an all-electric concept car during his keynote, which many predict will be an electric revival of the legendary Microbus model.

8:30am PT: Reed Hastings to take Netflix global
Netflix is the leading internet TV network, having morphed from a streaming service to an addictive original content creator on par with the likes of HBO or the BBC.
Its media-shy CEO Reed Hastings will deliver the opening keynote of CES 2016 about Netflix’s expansion into a global giant by the end of 2016. Rumours suggest this will include the announcement of Netflix India, among others.
9am PT: Conference sessions on new applications for wearables
A session called “mind-blowing wearables” will discuss unexpected use cases for wearable electronics from smart skin sensors to RFID tattoos replacing passwords. Other wearable sessions throughout the day include use cases for wearables for smart home and healthcare in particular.
1pm PT: General Motors CEO Mary Barra talks connected cars
General Motors’ CEO will outline how personal mobility is being redefined by connectivity in vehicles. GM is also rumoured to launch its first affordable electric car.

Panelists from 3D Robotics, Parrot, DJI and others explore the most promising consumer applications for drones beyond a backyard hobby and predict what will drive opportunities for the budding industry.

Panels during the day will focus on a new trend in babycare – high-tech nursery items from connected strollers to smart sleep monitors and medical-grade teddy bears.
3pm PT: Wearable Tech Awards
Judged by the global editors of Stuff magazine, this awards event will highlight the 10 most exciting wearables you should know about from CES 2016.
4.30pm PT: YouTube defines the future of entertainment
YouTube Chief Business Officer Robert Kyncl will deliver a keynote that focuses on the future of entertainment as traditional and digital media converge, in particular the role of YouTube in the world of original content. As YouTube vloggers become legitimate mainstream pop stars, traditional media like television have to sit up and take notice.
